The Governor of Anbar Orders the Implementation of Engineering Measures to Expand the Al-Saqour Checkpoint and Address Traffic Bottlenecks

The governor of Anbar, Engineer Omar Mash'an Dabous, conducted a field tour of the Al-Saqour checkpoint, accompanied by the Anbar police chief, Major General Adel Hamid Rashid, a number of security officials, the Anbar Traffic Director, and the directors of service departments, to assess traffic conditions on the ground and develop engineering solutions to address the congestion on this vital thoroughfare, which is one of the main entry points to Anbar Governorate on the highway connecting the governorate to the capital, Baghdad.

The governor reviewed the technical and engineering aspects of the project and directed the Fallujah Municipality to begin implementing the first phase of the first section of the expansion project, as part of a comprehensive plan to reorganize traffic flow and increase the road’s capacity, thereby helping to accommodate the growing volume of vehicles, reduce wait times, and improve traffic safety.

He also directed the preparation of a joint technical report, in coordination with the Anbar Police Command, the Roads and Bridges Directorate, the Fallujah Municipality, and the Traffic Directorate, that includes engineering solutions for regulating the routes of heavy vehicles, and the creation of appropriate spaces for their movement and waiting, thereby separating truck traffic from that of smaller vehicles, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic, and reducing congestion in the vicinity of the checkpoint.
